Joyce Winnecke helps businesses with communications, marketing and strategy.

Her background is a rare combination of journalism, P&L, policy, marketing, branding, corporate communications and development.  She has successfully led large teams and complex operations, worked with boards of directors, and developed ideas and products to generate new revenue.

As Chief Marketing & Experience Officer at PCMA, Joyce Winnecke led marketing and communications, events strategy and production, education curation and creation, and an editorial team delivering a monthly magazine, a suite of newsletters and daily digital content.  She led reorganization and crafted brand strategy to elevate PCMA’s position to the premier organization serving the global business events industry.  She created an industry-wide program for inclusion and diversity.

As President of Tribune Content Agency, Joyce Winnecke reversed a 10-year decline of the 100-year-old business, more than doubling revenue and EBITDA.  Overseeing international and domestic sales, marketing and communications, editorial and technology, she introduced a digital focus and a culture of innovation, urgency and financial rigor.

As Vice President and Associate Editor at Chicago Tribune, Joyce Winnecke directed a newsroom team of more than 100 and a diverse portfolio of development initiatives resulting in audience and revenue growth. She directed organizational change to transform culture, content and delivery to digital focus.  She led creation of Blue Sky Innovation; Trib Nation, a ground-breaking events program; and other fresh initiatives to engage audiences and drive revenue.

Joyce Winnecke is President of the YWCA Metro Chicago board of directors. Its mission is Eliminating Racism and Empowering Women.

Joyce Winnecke earned an MBA at University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a bachelor’s degree at the University of Southern Indiana in her hometown of Evansville.  She completed Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management’s course on Corporate Governance: Effectiveness and Accountability in the Board Room.

Joyce previously served as Managing Editor at the Chicago Sun-Times, City Editor at the Indianapolis Star and Washington correspondent for Scripps Howard News Service.  For 10 years, she also write a weekly column on food and cooking for Scripps Howard News Service.  She began her career at age 16, writing obituaries and taking sports scores at the Sunday Courier & Press in Evansville.

Her work and leadership have been recognized by many, including Crain’s Chicago Business’s “40 under 40” and the Today’s Chicago Woman list of “Most Influential Women in Chicago.”  In addition to her work as President of the YWCA Metro Chicago board of directors, she serves on the President’s Advisory Council at Governors State University.  She is a member of the International Women’s Forum, The Chicago Network, The Chicago Club, the Economic Club of Chicago and the City Club of Chicago.
